If you listen very carefully, you might hear Mr Wise, the old owl, as he flies through the woods checking all is well or even his deep snores as he sleeps.
You may hear the whistling of Mr Prickles, the village handyman, as he sweeps away leaves from the village paths, or the deep chuckle of Mr Brown, the village chairman as he chats to Mr Fox, the village shop owner.
And if you wait long enough, you may hear the laughter of the children as they run home from school at the end of the day.
Tales of Cottondale Wood is a delightful book which I hope becomes a bedtime favourite, to entertain, educate and inspire the reader, be it a child or adult, for many years to come.
